THE BEST SAMSUNG TVS OF 2023: THE LIST

1. SAMSUNG QN900A

The best Samsung TV if money is no object

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 65, 75, and 85 inches
Resolution: 8K
Screen type: Neo QLED
HDR rating: 4000 (3000 on the 65-inch model)
REASONS TO BUY
+
Astounding mini-LED panel
+
8K really looks better than 4K
+
Beautiful bezel-less design
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Elite price to match the visuals

The very top of Samsung's lineup includes a Neo QLED panel, which is Samsung's designation for mini-LED technology paired with its QLED display. When it comes to realistic and dazzling HDR, nothing beats the combination of huge brightness, contrast-rich local dimming, and beautiful colours.

The 8K display has 33 million pixels, and it looks better than 4K TVs because of the incredible CPU within, which adds so much detail to 4K or HD movies that they appear to be a greater resolution. Best Gaming Chair 2023

You get virtually every feature Samsung has to offer here, including an array of speakers around the edges for positional audio, as well as a separate One Connect box that houses all of the processing and connections, with only a single cable to the actual TV – ideal for wall-mounting or simply keeping things tidy.

The design is also stunning, with bezels that are practically non-existent, allowing the image to float above the stand. Best Samsung TVs

2. SAMSUNG AU9000

The best Samsung TV on a limited budget

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 43, 50, 55, 65, 75
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: Edge-lit LED LCD
HDR rating: N/A
REASONS TO BUY
+
Excellent image quality for the price
+
Top-tier smart TV platform
+
Nice slim design
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Mediocre sound
-
Struggles with upscaling from SD

The Samsung AU9000 is the most expensive TV without a QLED panel, instead using Samsung's 'Crystal UHD' technology, which includes the Crystal Processor 4K. Expect colours to be less bright than on QLED displays, and upscaling to be less sophisticated than on more expensive versions.

However, you'll be surprised at how much this TV can accomplish for the money. It's not particularly bright, but it has excellent contrast control, making it look better for HDR than most people would think. It's also a great upscale from HD to 4K, with 4K handled with care and attention to detail.

The smart TV platform is the same as on Samsung's high-end TVs, which means it's great for apps and super simple to use — it's one of the best features available.

Our complete Samsung AU9000 review goes through its merits and weaknesses, as well as the places where its budget nature shows, but for the price, it doesn't get much better. Best Samsung TVs

3. SAMSUNG QN85A

Best Samsung TVs, Samsung's top-of-the-line 4K QLED TVs

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: Neo QLED
HDR rating: 1500
REASONS TO BUY
+
Affordable Neo QLED screen
+
Rich and nuanced image quality
+
Great design
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Middling sound
-
Some imperfect motion handling

This is the cheapest Samsung TV with a Neo QLED panel, so you can receive the most cutting-edge screen technology for a reasonable price. It's a 4K screen with less brightness than the QN900A (or QN95A below), and fewer dimming zones in the backlight, so the contrast is less exact... However, given the money it costs, what it can do is still incredible.

It is substantially brighter than the OLED TVs it competes with in terms of pricing, yet it still achieves deep and rich black levels. And, thanks to the high quality of the lighting, along with the vibrant colours of QLED technology, the images are incredibly subtle.

As stated in our Samsung QN85A review, "It isn't perfect in terms of performance, but it comes close... The visual quality is so good here that the sound quality isn't even a consideration."

4. SAMSUNG AU7100

Best Samsung TVs, The cheapest Samsung TV is a winner for its price

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 40, 50, 55, 58, 65, 70, 75, 85 inches
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: Edge-lit LED CD
HDR rating: N/A
REASONS TO BUY
+
Detailed and strong 4K images
+
Solid contrast and motion
+
Great smart TV software
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Not very bright
-
Weak sound

This is Samsung's most budget TV line this year, and it's just a version of the AU9000 with some of the fancier features turned down to make it even more reasonable.

But, just like the AU9000, Samsung never compromises on quality, and the real visuals are seriously good for such a low-cost set. You can also get it in pretty much any size that 4K TVs have ever been available in, which is handy.

Our Samsung AU7100 review delves into its strong points: "The degree of detail is superb throughout, which means that the crucial skin tones and textures that almost every live-action film relies on are accurately represented. 'Confidence' is also an excellent word to describe how the AU7100 handles on-screen motion and defines edges."

All of this means that the AU7100 makes the most of being a 4K screen, with the depth of contrast and sound being the only flaws - both of which other budget TVs suffer from as well.

5. SAMSUNG QN95A

Best Samsung TVs, The best Samsung TV of 2021 for 4K image quality

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: Neo QLED
HDR rating: 2000
REASONS TO BUY
+
Astounding Neo QLED HDR
+
Gorgeous detail and upscaling
+
Excellent design and features
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Fairly expensive

This is Samsung's top-of-the-line 4K model, with Neo QLED HDR technology that shines brightly and is incredibly precise in scenes of extreme contrast, such as light and dark adjacent to each other. Of course, it's not nearly as capable as the flagship 8K QN900A, but it's a lot less expensive... Despite the fact that it is still one of the most expensive 4K TVs on the market today.

The image quality is simply incredible, and it's also well-equipped for connections, thanks to the fantastic One Connect external box, which keeps the device's ultra-slim design free of cords.

As stated in our comprehensive Samsung QN95A review: "It impresses from start to end, from its astonishing control of exact light and dark to its ample helpings of detail and seamless motion control. It's the most comprehensive LED-lit LCD TV we've seen in a long time – possibly ever." OnePlus, 4 Smart TVs

Even better, it will be offered in a smaller 43-inch size, bringing high-end quality to a small screen for the first time. Best Samsung TVs

6. SAMSUNG Q80A

The best Samsung TV for mid-range quality

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 50, 55, 65, 75, 85 inches
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: QLED
HDR rating: 1500 (1000 on 50-inch model)
REASONS TO BUY
+
Great balance of quality and price
+
Beautiful QLED HDR
+
Excellent image processing
REASONS TO AVOID
-
50-inch model is weaker than others
-
Not Neo QLED screen

This is a fantastic combination of Samsung's higher-end technology and reasonable pricing. The 55-inch and larger models provide extremely brilliant and punchy images, with incredibly rich black tones for added contrast, as well as features like HDMI 2.1 support and speakers around the edges for outstanding positional audio. Best Samsung TVs

The 50-inch version has a less brilliant screen and only a standard speaker arrangement, so it's not quite as good value, but it's still a great pick when compared to the competition. But it's on large screens that this model really shines. Motorola Smart TV

It's obviously not quite as capable as the QN85A when it comes to awesomely exact contrast management, but it's also a lot less expensive, and when compared to other sets of the same size and price, the Q80A is a clear winner. Everything about it screams quality, from the design to the graphics to the smart TV platform – we think it does a terrific job of bridging the gap between Samsung's less-priced models and its more expensive ones.

7. SAMSUNG Q60A

The best Samsung TV for cheap QLED kicks

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 43, 50, 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: Edge-lit QLED
HDR rating: N/A
REASONS TO BUY
+
QLED colours for less
+
Strong 4K detail
+
Great smart TV platform
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Weaker contrast than other QLEDs
-
Mediocre sound

The goal is to provide you with the extra-rich colours of a QLED panel at an affordable price. It stands just above Samsung's AU9000 and is a mixture of that model's processor, illumination, and sound, combined with the QLED colours screen of the Q80A.

The overall effect is vibrant colours, but without the deep black levels provided by the Q80A. 4K detail is abundant, and upscaling from HD to 4K is handled admirably, however it lacks the Q80A's motion clarity and upscaling from SD. Realme TV Stick

The Q60A will be extremely popular among those who want QLED in a smaller size or who want a larger size for the same price. Here's our Samsung Q60A vs Q70A comparison chart if you're curious about the differences between the Q60A and the model above (its closest competitor). In this list, you'll find the Q70A immediately below. Best Samsung TVs

8. SAMSUNG FRAME 2023

The best Samsung TV for style plus QLED image quality

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 32, 43, 50, 55, 65, 75 inches
Resolution: 4K (1080p in 32-inch model)
Screen type: QLED
HDR rating: Not listed
REASONS TO BUY
+
Beautiful design with white frame
+
Lovely QLED images
+
Art Mode is a fun addition
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Contrast not the strongest
-
Average sound

The Frame collection has been of tremendous popularity, and it's easy to see why: an all-black TV is a bit of an eyesore for individuals who enjoy their rooms to be beautiful places full of well-picked furnishings. The Frame TVs give your TV a traditional aesthetic and include a fun feature called Art Mode. When the set is not in use, it shows a variety of works of art (with a motion sensor turning the screen off when it detects no one is around to see them). Xiaomi OLED TV

It's also a fantastic television. The 32-inch model features a 1080p display with QLED's vibrant colours, which is an uncommon discovery. The larger displays use the same QLED panel and illumination as the Q60A above, but they contain the more powerful processing of the Q80A, making them even better for detail, upscaling, and motion handling than the Q60A. 9. SAMSUNG Q70A

The best Samsung TV for style plus QLED image quality

SPECIFICATIONS
Sizes: 55, 65, and 75 inches
Resolution: 4K
Screen type: QLED
HDR rating: Not listed
REASONS TO BUY
+
Bright HDR with bold colours
+
Sharp 4K images
+
HDMI 2.1 input
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Middling contrast
-
Average sound

The Samsung Q70A has nearly identical picture quality to The Frame TVs, which means vibrant HDR colours, plenty of brightness for highlights, and superb sharpness and processing for 4K images. Upscaling from HD to 4K is also excellent, so it looks good on just about anything.

You lose the elegant appearance and Art Mode capabilities when compared to The Frame, but you gain an HDMI 2.1 port with 120Hz and VRR support for next-gen gaming. You also save a lot of money by going with a simpler style that is nonetheless attractive." iFFALCON F2A Series FHD एलईडी TV

"Its picture quality is strong, its ultra-slim design is elegant, and it's unexpectedly well-packed with features for its money," we said in our Samsung Q70A review. Its performance in dark environments is noticeably inferior to that of the Q80A (mind alone the Neo QLED versions), yet it still produces extremely amazing images for the money. Best Samsung TVs

SAMSUNG TVS 2023: THE KEY FEATURES EXPLAINED

On Samsung's specifications, there's a lot of jargon, so here's our glossary to help you figure out which terms are worth paying attention to. Samsung's OLED 4K TVs

Samsung's latest upscaling technology, known as Quantum Processor 4K/8K, allows lower-quality footage to be upgraded to 4K or 8K (depending on the screen resolution) and look as close to being natively filmed as possible. Best Samsung TVs

Samsung's Neo QLED panel blends a next-generation Mini-LED backlight with its QLED colour technology. Mini-LEDs are, as the name implies, significantly smaller LED lights beneath the pixels, allowing for brighter but thinner screens while also allowing for more precise dimming of the backlight for truer black levels. QLED is a long-running technology for increasing the colour spectrum of LCD TVs; it's made up of 'Quantum Dots,' and while only a few businesses use the QLED term (because it's trademarked), most high-end TVs utilize an equivalent tech, Best Samsung TVs  OnePlus TV U1S

Even if the original video doesn't have Dolby Atmos or a similar 3D soundtrack, Objecting Tracking Sound builds a 3D soundscape from whatever is on screen. This, together with speakers positioned around the set's perimeter, creates a vast, tall 3D audio experience.

Q-Symphony is an upgrade to the previous feature, but it's only available if you have a Samsung Q-series soundbar. Basically, the soundbar will boost the volume, but the TV's higher-up speakers will still provide height and location information, giving you the best of both worlds. This is a significant upgrade over the Samsung soundbars alone (or the TV alone).

Game Bar is a new menu that allows you to select how much processing the TV does while in Gaming mode, allowing you to pick between the least amount of lag and adding some extra prettiness to the images. When playing on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it also allows you to control capabilities like 4K 120Hz or Variable Refresh Rate support.
