Apple to Give First Look at iOS 16 at WWDC 2022, Expected New Features
Let's take a look at the new iOS 16 features that have been leaked so far ahead of the start of WWDC 2022.

WWDC 2022 will be held at Apple Park in California on June 6, 2022. The company will physically host its annual developer event in a limited capacity. Those who are interested, however, can watch the new Apple event online via a variety of channels. The WWDC 2022 live stream will be available on Apple's website, YouTube channel, and the Apple TV app. Apple will announce iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, and other products at the event.
The company will only provide a brief overview of what's new in iOS 16. The new iPhone update will be available later this year. Developers and consumers will learn about some of the new iOS 16 features that will be available for the iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, and other iPhone models at the event.

The developer preview should become available shortly after the event. A month after the event, Apple is also expected to release the public beta. The stable update is expected to be released in September or October 2022. iOS 16 new features: Expected
The upcoming iOS 16 update will not include any major design changes. Apple will almost certainly stick with the current user interface design while introducing some new features. The upcoming iOS update is expected to include significant changes to notifications, messages, and the lock screen. At the Apple event, new Health app features are also expected to be announced.
New Lock Screen
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously stated that the iOS 16 lock screen will be completely redesigned. Wallpapers with widget-like capabilities will be among the new enhancements. The upcoming iOS update is also expected to include Always-on Display support (AoD). The feature, however, will be available only after the iPhone 14 launch event and will be limited to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

To accommodate the hole-punch and pill-shaped cutout on the Pro models, the status bar on the lock screen (and the home screen) could be tweaked to show more updates at the top.
Improvements to Notifications
The Notifications tab is also expected to be updated. These changes, according to Gurman, will be "significant." However, little is known about it.
The Messages app will be updated to compete with WhatsApp and Telegram.
Apple has provided regular updates to the Messages app for iMessage and SMS over the years. To compete with other social media and instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, the company is said to be introducing some new features in the app with the iOS 16 update. Messages, according to Gurman, will provide more "social networking-like functionality." Apple is also expected to announce new audio message features, but the specifics are currently unknown.
Health App Additions
The new iOS update will also place a greater emphasis on the Health app. According to Gurman, Apple is working on releasing an updated version of the Health app. The new version will improve sleep tracking and medication management.
According to reports, Apple is working on a tool that will allow users to scan pill bottles into the Health app. Only a subset of the planned functions will be available at first. Apple is also said to be concentrating on women's health features.
iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9: Expected features
In addition to iOS 16, Apple will reveal the next software updates for the iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. The majority of the iOS 16 features will be included in the new iPadOS 16 update. Furthermore, Gurman stated that the upcoming iPad OS update will include some features for improved multitasking.
According to a recent report, Apple is also working on features that will allow users to perform some laptop-like tasks on the iPad. One of the rumoured features is the ability to resize app windows, allowing users to run multiple apps at the same time. This will be especially useful for the newer iPad models that use the new M1 chip.

macOS 13 is expected to include a redesigned System Preferences interface that is compatible with the iPhone and iPad. Apple may also make changes to the design of its native apps.
WatchOS 9 will also receive significant updates. According to Gurman, Apple is likely to make "significant improvements to watchOS that affect day-to-day operating and navigation." A new Low Power Mode, unlike the current Low Power Mode, will allow users to access some of the watch's features.
The new watchOS 9 updates will also include new Watch Faces. Of course, some new health features will be integrated into the new Health app as well. The public will be able to purchase watchOS 9 in September or October 2022.
