Intel Introduces the 12th Generation Intel Core P-Series and U-Series Processors in India, Expanding the Mobile Processor Lineup
Laptops powered by Intel's 12th generation P-Series and U-Series chips will be available by the end of March!

At CES 2022, Intel showcased its mobile range of 12th Gen CPUs, which are based on its all-new hybrid architecture. The company is now shipping 12th generation Alder Lake mobile CPUs in both the P-series and U-series.
In contrast to the H-series, which is intended for high-performance computers, these new CPUs are intended for small and light laptops and 2-in-1s. The 12th generation Intel processors represent some of the most significant performance improvements delivered by Intel CPUs in recent years. Intel has revealed that the P and U series will include a total of 20 new mobile CPUs. By March 2022, Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, NEC, Samsung, and others are expected to release laptops with these new chips.

Intel 12th Gen P-Series and U-Series Chipsets
The new mobile CPUs employ the same Performance-cores (P-cores) and Efficiency-cores (E-cores) as the 12th Generation desktop processors. The P cores handle the user's high-demand tasks, such as video editing or gaming, while the E cores handle background tasks or minimized apps.
Core i7-1280P, i7-1270P, i7-1260P, i5-1250P, i5-1240P, and i3-1220P are the most recent P series chips. The U series, on the other hand, is divided into two sub-ranges: UP3 (15W) and UP4 (9W). Among the available processors are the Core i8 1260U, i7-1250U, i5-1240U, i5-1230U, and i3-1210U.
The top-of-the-line Core i7-1280P has 14 cores (6P + 8E). The L3 cache is 24MB in size, with a maximum clock speed of 4.8GHz. The maximum power output is 64 watts, with a 28-watt base power restriction.

The Core i7-1260U processor has 10 cores, 12 threads, two performance cores, and eight efficiency cores. It has a 12MB L3 cache and a maximum clock speed of 4.7GHz with Max Turbo. The base power is rated at 9W, with a maximum power consumption of 29W.
These new chips support DDR5/LPDDR5 (4800 MT/s) and DDR4/LPDDR4 (3200 MT/s) RAM, as well as PCIe 4.0 up to 8 lanes and up to 16 CPU PCIe 5.0 lanes. Wi-Fi 6E, USB 3.2 Gen 22, Thunderbolt 4, Intel IPU 6.0, and Intel Optane Memory H20 are all built-in.
When compared to previous-generation chipsets, Intel claims up to 70% faster multi-thread performance, approximately 2x performance for 3D rendering, and up to 30% faster photo editing.
