Xiaomi unveiled the MIUI 14 yesterday, along with the Xiaomi 13 series and the Watch S2. The next version of the MIUI is based on the Android 13 operating system. Xiaomi's latest Android skin focuses on better optimization and faster operations. According to the company, the number of pre-installed apps has been reduced and more of them can be easily uninstalled.

MIUI 14 includes new widgets, customizable folders, avatars, smoothness, and much more. Xiaomi has revealed the timeline for the MIUI 14 update as well as a list of devices that will receive it in the coming days. Xiaomi has announced all of the features that will be available in MIUI 14. Let's take a look at them.

Uninstall More System Apps

Xiaomi claims that they want users to have a clean UI experience, which is why the MIUI 14 will have less bloatware. Not only that, but users will be able to uninstall more pre-installed apps on smartphones. Except for eight apps, any other app on a Xiaomi or Redmi phone running MIUI 14 can be uninstalled. Large and changeable icons

MIUI 14 brightens up the interface. Xiaomi has increased the size of its app to improve the visual experience. Each app icon will be available in four sizes. Users will be able to personalise the icons to their liking. According to the company, these small changes make a big difference. On the desktop, a pet will perform some actions on the home screen.

Photon Engine

Xiaomi has used an improved Photon Engine in MIUI 14 that has undergone extensive optimization with third-party apps. It delves deep into the Linux kernel for optimization and debugs alongside the mainstream third-party apps one by one. According to the company, the Photon Engine in MIUI 14 increases Fluency by 88% while decreasing power consumption by 16%.

Family Service Functions

MIUI 14 introduces new family service features. It is now possible for up to nine members of the same family to share services with their loved ones. It has shared cloud space, which Gold and above members can use to store independent data. It also includes a shared photo album that collects family memories and can be used as a screensaver.

MIUI 14 Update timeline

Xiaomi has only revealed the timeline for the devices that will receive the update in the first phase as of now. The phones listed below will receive the MIUI update beginning in January 2023. Xiaomi tablets, on the other hand, will begin receiving the MIUI 14 update in April 2023. At the moment, the updated timeline for India is unknown.
