Xiaomi has released the latest version of its custom user interface (UI) — MiUI 13. The new software was released alongside the Xiaomi 12 smartphone in China, and it will soon be available on the company's other devices. It is based on Google's Android 12 platform and brings various optimizations and changes to Xiaomi's platform. The new version of the software also includes a font called Mi Sans, which will aid in giving the platform a new look and feel. Because the company's launch event in China is still going on, some details are still unknown. However, Xiaomi claims that the new software will make devices 52 percent smoother than the previous MiUI 12.5 software. Furthermore, the UI will allow users to choose a specific colour theme for their device, which will be applied to widgets, menus, and other elements. The background colour can also change dynamically based on the image that is open on the screen, indicating that Xiaomi is also utilizing Google's material design system from Android. The company also unveiled MiUI 13 Pad, a tablet-optimized version of the software that resembles Apple's iPadOS operating system. Tapping and holding an app icon, similar to Apple's former Force Touch feature, reveals some quick actions on MiUI 13 Pad as well. The MiUI 13 software will be available on the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 11 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Ultra, and Xiaomi 11. In India, the 11 Series is marketed as the Mi 11. According to reports, the software will also be available for the Mi Mix 4, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, and Redmi K40 series.
